NATO chief meets Georgian parliamentary speaker

“In the meeting, the Secretary General said that NATO’s commitment to Georgia’s membership as decided by NATO Allies at the Bucharest Summit in 2008 remains firm,” a press release issued by NATO reads.

“The Secretary General said that NATO will continue supporting Georgia in its reform efforts and thanked Georgia for its contribution to the NATO-led ISAF operation in Afghanistan.”

According to the Georgian Parliament’s press office Rasmussen and Bakradze discussed the security issues and “risks posed by the presence of Russian military forces in Georgia.”

On Jan. 26, Georgia submitted to the Alliance its draft of Annual National Programme (ANP).

The document, which is not public, lays out defense and democratic reform targets for 2010.
