23 May 2008 [15:14] - TODAY.AZ
Two activists of the movement for rights of South Azerbaijanis, journalists, were detained in Iran by Ettelaat officials.
The due announcement was made by chairman of the center of research and information under the South Azerbaijan Independence Party Sadiq Isabeyli, according to Day.Az.

He said Sahib ali Khudabekhsh (Elyaz Yekanly) was detained in Urmia city and Gamid Rustami in the Khoi city.

"The main reason of their arrest is propaganda of the idea of organization of the actions, aimed at restoration of the violated rights of Azerbaijanis, as well as publication of materials on problems, facing our compatriots in Iran", said Isabeyli.

He noted that both were driven away in the unknown direction and nothing is known about their fates.

Isabeyli noted that last year Yekanly was imprisoned for a year and subjected to tortures in jail.
