Some 6-7 years will be needed for normalization of relations with Abkhazians and Ossetians, Georgian State Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili believes. Georgia does not ties its initiatives with the conflict regions, he told reporters on Thursday.
"We just take steps, so they can see that the peace process stage has begun. The government needs months to change the policy, approximately two years will be needed for them to see it. However 6-7 years will be required to get the first results and establish contacts. This does not mean I should be the minister during this period, the main thing is that consistent policy should continue during this period," Zakareishvili said.
Zakareishvili said steps to be taken in the future will correspond to Georgia's national interests.
