07 July 2010 [16:55] - TODAY.AZ
The Congress of Azerbaijanis of Georgia (CAG) proposed to establish a joint working group to examine the situation of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia and Georgians living in Azerbaijan.
The congress proposed to engage Azerbaijani and Georgian MPs, as well as public representatives of the two countries, in the joint working group, CAG Chairman Ali Babayev said.

"The joint working group will inform the public of both countries on the situation of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia and Georgians in Azerbaijan on the basis of the analysis of the situation. The CAG representatives are ready to be presented in a joint working group," Babayev said.

"The CAG representatives familiarized with the life conditions of the Azerbaijani Georgians in March. They visited the Azerbaijani regions Gakh, Balaken and Zagatala, where the Azerbaijani Georgians live. The regions have modern schools, cultural centers, hospitals and roads. The People have no problems with the land. About 57 mosques failed to pass registration in Georgia, while three Christian churches operate in the Gakh region under the state protection. Azerbaijan has created favorable conditions for business development for the Georgian businessmen. Over 35 Georgian restaurants and cafes operate only in Baku," Babayev said.

Babayev expressed regret that the Georgian government does not care about the regions, where the Azerbaijanis live, for the past over 20 years.
