Turkey, Germany, Thailand and Ukraine progressed for 1/16 final

The third day of the AIBA 2001 Boxing Championships has seen the following results: Turkey’s Furhan Memis won Sean McGoldrick (Wales), Germany’s Denis Makarov won Rafli Langi (India) and Thailand’s Worapo Petchkoom won Ayabonga Sonjika from the South African Republic. All winners progressed for 1/16 final. Also in 64 kg weigh category Ukraine’s Denis Berinchik beat Naziri Piraki (Tajikistan).
