Azerbaijan pankration fighters claim five medals in European Championship

Azerbaijan`s national pankration team has brought home a clutch of five medals, including one gold from the 3rd European Championship held in Odessa, Ukraine.

Vugar Karimov weighing in at 65 kg claimed a gold in pankration division and a silver in combat grappling one.

Orkhan Gahramnov at 60 kg (combat grappling), Rustam Rustamli at 70 kg (pankration) and Ehtiram Derishov at 60 kg (foot grappling) secured bronze medals.

A meeting of World Pankration and Grappling Committee was held during the championship. The discussions focused on development of pankration and inclusion of this kind of sport into the program of Olympic Games.
