Azerbaijan judo fighters win 3 medals at the European Championship in Malta - UPDATE

Azerbaijan`s junior judo team have grabbed 5 medals at the European championship in Cottonera, Malta. Isgandar Talıshinsky won silver in 55kg class.

Elbrus Zamanov (55 kg), Rashad Rufullayev (60 kg), Huseyn Rahimli (66 kg) and Furuddin Dadashov (73 kg) won bronze medals.

The youth European championship in judo involving Azerbaijani sportsmen started in Cottonera (Malta) on June 24.

On the first day of the tournament, Azeri judo fighters won three awards. In the weight category below 55 kg, Isgandar Talishinskiy became silver. He beat opponents from France, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine but in the final he lost to Georgian Vano Mamisashvili.

In the same weight Elbrus Zamanov won bronze. In the decisive fight he managed to beat Ukraine`s Pavel Skoptenko. Rashad Rufullayev (60 kg) was also successful, winning bronze in the fight against Israel`s Alexander Raskopin.
