Azerbaijani gymnasts attend World Cup in Greece

The next stage of the World Cup on rhythmic gymnastics is competing in Kalamat, a city in Greece. The event was attended by Aliya Garayeva, Zeynab Javadli and the Azerbaijani group team.

Team leader Aliya Garayeva performed in all Cup finals showing the best results in the exercise with a hoop. She ranked fourth scoring 27.6 points, said the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. Russian gymnast Daria Kondakova leaves Garayeva behind with only 0.1 points.

Aliya ranked fourth after her performances in the all-round events, yielding to two Russian gymnasts Daria Dmitrieva and Daria Kondakova, and Belarusian Liubov Charkashyna.

In other events Garayeva ranked eighth in a performance with clubs and ribbon, and ninth in the ball performance. Kondakova (ball and ribbon) and Charkashyna (hoop), as well as Bulgarian Silvia Miteva (clubs), were announced winners during the finals.

Another Azerbaijani gymnast Zeynab Javadli ranked 14th all around, from among 36 participants.

After the biathlon, the team with Jeyla Guliyeva, Sabina Abbasova, Anastasia Prasolova, Aelita Khalafova, Stefani Traianova and Evgenia Jidkova made its way to the finals with five balls, where it ranked fourth. The Israeli team gained victory, Bulgarians ranked second, while French gymnasts ranked third.

The next stage of the World Cup (April 21-24) is ahead in Nizhny Novgorod. The international tournament among juniors will be held at the end of this week in Minsk. It will be attended by our gymnasts: Gulsum Shafizade and Leman Dadashli (both born in 1998) and Leman Hajizadeh (1999).
