Azerbaijani chess players make successful start to Chigorin Memorial

The first round of the Chigorin Memorial chess tournament has been held in St. Petersburg. Azerbaijani chess players have made a successful start to the tournament. Eltaj Safarli defeated Petr Letov from Russia while Jahangir Agarahimov won over another Russian player Dmitry Gantsevic. The tournament has brought together 272 chess players from 23 countries. The competition will take place in 9 rounds under Swiss system.
