Azerbaijani weightlifter ranks 22nd in world championship

The World Weightlifting Championship is underway in Antalya, Turkey. On the first day of Championship, women competed in the 48 kg weight category. A native of Bulgaria Sylvia Angelova, who represented Azerbaijan in the championship, lifted 149 kg in the double-event taking 22 th place among 29 participants.

In the snatch, she lifted 67 kg to rank 19th. In a push, Sylvia was the 25th with 82 kg. Gold medal was awarded to Turkish Nurcan Taylan (214 kg) followed by her compatriot Sibel Ozkan (205 kg) and Yuan Tian from China (204 kg).
