Azerbaijani judoka tops IJF World Ranking

Azerbaijani judo fighter Elkhan Mammadov (100kg) ranks first in the latest edition of the International Judo Federation World Ranking.

The table is based on the results of Zagreb Grand Prix, Azertac reported.

Elkhan Mammadov, who finished as the fifth at the tournament, regained his rank after a break. He is ahead of all his opponents in the 100kg weight class.

Other national judo fighters Orkhan Safarov (60kg), Rustam Orujov (73kg), Hidayat Heydarov (73kg) and Elmar Gasimov (100kg) are 3rd, 2nd, 5th and 4th respectively.

Mehman Sadigov who competed in 6kg weigh class ranks 5th in Grand Prix with 566 points. This allowed him to improve his position by 24 points.

Rustam Orujov (73 kg) is the second in Zagreb's championship. Hidayat Heydarov's position in the same weight category remained unchanged. He is in fifth place. Mammadali Mehdiyev (90 kg) and Iryna Kindzerska (+78 kg) are 12th and 8th respectively.

Tural Safguliyev (90 kg) is among the advanced ones. He climbed to the 14th place.

Other judo fighters Khanum Huseynova (63 kg), Orkhan Safarov (60 kg), Nijat Shikhalizade (66 kg), Rufat Ismayilov (81 kg), Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg), Aisha Gurbanli (48 kg) and Nazaket Azizova (52 kg) have dropped to one step each. They are in the 54th, 3rd, 12th, 21st, 36th and 43th respectively.
