The United World Wrestling has released its latest rankings for freestyle event, with Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers in Top 10.
Toghrul Asgarov (65kg), Jabrayil Hasanov (74kg) and Khetag Gazyumov (97kg) rank second in their respective categories, Azertac reported.
Other Azerbaijani wrestlers, Haji Aliyev and Ahmadnabi Gvarzatilov are fourth in the ranking.
Aslanbek Alborov and Jamaladdin Mahammadov are also in Top 10.
Toghrul Asgarov is an Olympic and European champion in freestyle wrestling.
In 2012 Summer Olympics Toghrul Asgarov won Olympic wrestling gold medal in men's 60-kilogram freestyle.
Jabrayil Hasanov won the European championships in 2010 and 2011 and finished third at the world championships. He competed in Baku 2015 European Games and earned a bronze medal.
Khetag Gazyumov won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and a silver at the 2016 Rio Games.
Haji Aliyev competed in the 57 kg division at the 2016 Summer Olympics and won the bronze medal after beating Vladimir Dubov of Bulgaria. He was the flag bearer for Azerbaijan during the closing ceremonies.
Wrestling remains the most popular sport in the county and is overseen by the National Wrestling Federation, which was established in 1993.
