World Chess Olympiad to start in Baku today

The opening of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad will kick off in Baku on September 1 at 19:00 with a solemn ceremony.

The event will take place at one of the beautiful sporting arenas in the country -- National Gymnastics Arena.

The Olympiad in Baku will become a record one by the number of participants. 181 male and 142 female teams from 176 countries will compete in 42nd World Chess Olympiad to be held in Baku.

Three male and female teams of Azerbaijan will compete in the Olympiad.

Eleven rounds of the Olympiad will be held until September 14 at Baku Crystal Hall. The competitions will start at 15:00 on September 2.
