Final rehearsals of Chess Olympiad opening ceremony begin [VIDEO]

Preparations for the opening ceremony of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad are nearing completion. Costumes and music to be used during the ceremony have already been approved.

The official partner of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee, “Amapola Exclusive Events”, has started the installation of technical equipment and decorations for the ceremony. The ceremony is expected to last for one hour and feature some aspects of the chess tradition in Azerbaijan, including elements of national culture.

Final rehearsals for the opening ceremony of the Baku Chess Olympiad will commence on  August25.

The opening ceremony of the Olympiad will be held in the National Gymnastics Arena, while charming Crystal Hall, once hosting Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, will host the games.

With 2,000 chess masters from 180 counties, FIDE’s biennial chess tournament, will gather teams from all over the world to compete for the best title.
