FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics to be held at high level in Baku

FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics will take place in Baku at a very high level, Margarita Mamzina, U.S. senior team coach, told Trend July 15.

"The US gymnasts will take part in such competitions in Baku for the first time,” she said. “The pace of the preparatory work testifies that the competition will be held at a high level."

She said that the upcoming competition for the US team is the training for the Olympic Games and gymnasts are ready to perform well.

"The US gymnasts would like to join the top ten, but of course, everything depends on their preparation,” she added.

“The main thing is for the gymnasts to perform well,” she said. “I think the US team is ready for the competition. The gymnasts have already taken a historic action. For the first time, the US group team will participate in the Olympic Games."

Mamzina added that the US team arrived in Baku a few days earlier to train before the competition.

“The conditions in Baku are ideal for training,” Mamzina said.

"I would like to stress that Azerbaijan’s National Gymnastic Arena is one of the best places where the US gymnasts trained,” she said.

FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics will take place in Azerbaijan’s capital on July 22-24, giving a unique opportunity to see the performances of eminent gymnasts from 20 countries two weeks prior to the Rio Olympics.

Thirty-one gymnasts and 12 teams will compete for medals in the all-around on the first two days of competitions. Apparatus finals will be held on the event’s last day.

A magnificent Opening Ceremony, directed by the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team Mariana Vasileva, will be held on July 22, followed by the traditional Gala on July 24, as part of the FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku.
