Azerbaijani grandmaster named best player in Chess Olympiad

Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has gained 8.5 points in ten games to become the best player on the third board in the Chess Olympiad in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, the FIDE General Assembly awarded the 2015 World Chess Cup and 2016 World Chess Olympiad to the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
