Azeri chess player comes 41st in European championship

Azerbaijan's Zeynab Mammadyarova has come 41st in the European Women's Individual Chess Championship, held in Gaziantep, Turkey. Mammadyarova put in the best performance of the eight Azerbaijani contestants in the championship, gaining six points in 11 rounds.

Gulnar Mammadova, Turkan Mammadyarova and Nargiz Umudova gained 5.5 points and took 45th, 56th and 57th places respectively. Russia's Valentina Gunina became European champion with 8.5 points. Her countrywoman Tatiana Kosintseva came second and Anna Muzychuk of Slovenia third.
