Only 16% of children in Azerbaijan involved with preschool education

Currently, the 792 of every 1,000 persons at the age of 15 and over have higher and full secondary education in Azerbaijan.

According to State Statistical Committee, as of January 1, 2011, the 108 000 children at the ages of 1-5, are educated at 1 624 state and 11 non-state preschool educational institutions. 97% of these institutions are under the Ministry of Education and 22% are located in Baku.

At the same time, 1.3 mln pupils were educated at 4 515 state and 17 non-state full-time general education institutions in 2010/2011.

Besides, 75 state lyceums and gymnasiums with over 47 000 persons have operated in Azerbaijan.

In general number of state institutions, 640 full-time general education institutions operate in Azerbaijan and 76 000 pupils are educated here.

In 2010, 81 000 of 99 000 pupils have obtained school-leaving certificates.

Besides, as at beginning of the 2010/2011 education year, 53 451 students have been educated at 58 state and 4 non-state post-secondary educational institutions and 2/3 part of these are women.

140 241 persons have been educated at 36 state and 15 non-state higher educational institutions operating on bachelor and master degrees.
