About 50 buildings in Baku fail to meet safety requirements

The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry in 2010 revealed about 50 buildings in Baku that do not meet safety requirements, Ministry's State Construction Supervision Agency's Inspectorate head Khalid Najafov told journalists.

"These buildings are currently in operation, but they have not received the official conclusion of the Emergency Situations Ministry," Najafov said.

He said the residents of the buildings, on which must be carried work to strengthen the structures, will be temporarily relocated.  However, the buildings that completely non-relevant to safety requirements will be demolished.

Najafov urged citizens to make sure of presence of the Ministry's official conclusion before buying the home.
