Over 1,000 traffic accidents killed 288 in Baku last year

Over 1,010 traffic accidents occured in Baku in 2010, Baku State Traffic Police Department spokesman Vagif Asadov said.
The traffic accidents killed 288 people and injured 1,001, Asadov said. The number of traffic accidents decreased by 33 facts in 2010 compared to 2009 and the number of injured people by 94, but the number of dead remained unchanged, Asadov added.

Some 51.7% traffic accidents occurred due to high speed. As a result of these accidents, 191 people died and 442 got injured, he said.
