14-year-old girl dies because of her father in Azerbaijan

Mercedes-Benz-190 car driven by Baku resident Mahir Mehdiyev crashed into a pillar of the radar standing on the curb after losing control.

"What is interesting is that only one airbag, the one in the driver's side opened while the one on the right side, where Mehdiyev’s 14-year-old daughter Sevil was sitting, did not open. As a result, the girl died on the spot," an investigator at Khatai District Police Office said.

A criminal case has been filed over reckless action leading to human death.

It is known that Mehdiyev lost control of the car as he exceeded the speed limit. According to the radar stats, the speed limit was 50 km/h, while Mehdiyev drove the car at about 100 km/h.
