Head of the Baku and Caspian Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church, Father Alexander, has praised the level of religious tolerance in Azerbaijan.
“Representatives of different religious confessions are peacefully coexisting in the country as a family,” Father Alexander told a celebrative event, co-organized by the Russian Orthodox Church and Baku Eparchy, marking Easter.
“And President Ilham Aliyev played an invaluable role in ensuring this policy of tolerance, founded by Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev.”
The Head of the Baku and Caspian Eparchy recalled a summit of religious leaders, which took place in Azerbaijan's capital last year.
“The summit proved that developing inter-cultural and inter-faith dialogue has been among the key priorities for the government of Azerbaijan,” he noted.
Mikhail Zabelin, Head of the Russian community in Azerbaijan, read out President Ilham Aliyev`s congratulatory message.
