Chairman of Azerbaijan Islam Party detained

Chairman of Azerbaijan Islam Party and three others were detained by Narimanov district police, spokesman for the party Akif Heydarli said.

He said chairman of AIP Movsum Samadov, his assistant Vagif Abdullayev, the party’s activist Elchin Hasanov and Samadov’s driver Mirhuseyn Kazimov were detained while leaving the office of the party at 19.00 on January 7. Under the decision of Binagadi district court, he has been put under ten-day restraint.
“The three are held in the detention facility of Binagadi district police office,” he said.

Narimanov district police office confirmed the fact. Azerbaijan Islam Party has not been registered.
