Number of Facebook users in Azerbaijan increases by 6%

As of Jan. 2011, the number of the social networking site's users in Azerbaijan increased by 6.77%, or17,700 users compared to early December 2010.

Azerbaijani Facebook segment ranks 94th in the attendance rating, two points less thanDecember 2010. Roughly 3.36% of the Azerbaijani population use Facebook, which is 0.21% more compared to early December. The percentage of users of social networking site among the total number of Internet users in Azerbaijan also increased by 0.48% and amounted to 7.57%.

Roughly 63% of the total number of users is men. Around 50% visitors to the site fall in the age bracket of 18-24, while around 26% visitors fall between the ages of 25-34 and the 16-17 year-old users form 9% of the total users. Moreover, 6% fall to the age categories of 35-44 and 13-15, whereas those between the ages of 45-54 form 2% and only 1% of users fall in the age bracket of 55-64 and above 65.

The number of Facebook users in Azerbaijan is greater than some other CIS countries such as Latvia with 226,400 users, Belarus with 193,640 users, Kazakhstan with 198,960 users, Moldova with 138,780 users, Armenia with 105,640 users, Uzbekistan with 46,760 users, Kyrgyzstan with 33,520 users, Tajikistan with 9,960 users and Turkmenistan with 9,000 users.

The top five countries Facebook-using countries in the world, according to Facebakers, are the United States, Indonesia, UK, Turkey and France. The total number of Facebook users globally is 584,098,900 people.

Facebook social networking site started working on February 4, 2004. At present, its services are available in 60 languages, including the Azerbaijani language.
