Archeological materials belonging to Azerbaijani state which name is unknown even nowadays in the 2nd millennium BC, have been revealed in Karimli village of Azerbaijan’s Oguz region, Head of the Shaki-Gakh-Oguz expedition Nasib Mukhtarov said.

To him, that state was ruled by the same or different dynasties.

Mukhtarov said that burial mound in Karimli village and the territory of the excavations is named in official documents as “Ruler’s graveyard” or “Gazi”: “Archeological materials found in Karimli village afford ground for thinking that this monument belongs to first quarter of the 2nd Millennium BC. If we concern 1st burial mound to the 2nd millennium too, then it makes to think that we face with great truth. Maybe, we will find tomb of one warlord or someone very powerful ruler of a big country existed in the 2nd millennium BC. Because burial mounds were considered for such people”.

Mukhtarov noted that this novelty assumes great importance not only for studying Azerbaijan’s ancient history but also for studying the history of Minor Asia and Caucasus region.
