Satellite increases internet speed from UK to Azerbaijan

After the successful launch of Eutelsat’s KA-SAT satellite from Baykonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, more than 1 million people in Europe and the Mediterranean region will be able to enjoy Tooway’s high-speed satellite Internet connection at a minimum price of 1 euro per day, according to a press release.

Europe’s high-throughput satellite KA-SAT is soon to increase the speed of wide-band service, which means users in a wide topography extending between the U.K and Azerbaijan will be provided with a high-speed wide-band service up to 10 Mbps.

The speed for satellite download for existing Tooway services is to be increased from 3 Mbps to 10 MBps in May, while the signal sending speed to the satellite is to be increased from 384 Kbps to 4 Mbps.

Tooway requires a very easy installation process and all users need to have is an Ethernet route, a modem and a small satellite receiving dish. Tooway will also provide users with telephone and television service through satellite.

Eutelsat Multimedia and Value-added Services Director Arduino Patacchini said KA-SAT benefits from Ka-band frequencies integrated to multiple spot radiation technology and bandwidth provided by a single satellite. “This is a radical step,” he said.
