Azerbaijan's Education Minister Misir Mardanov has briefed about the work done in the education sphere in 2010.

Major projects launched in the education sphere in 2010 will continue to be implemented in 2011 and new ones will be realized, the minister said.
"In 2011 we will continue to work closely with the World Bank, to implement educational projects. We will also proceed with construction and overhaul of secondary schools and the introduction of ICT in educational institutions,” the minister added.
“Moreover, we plan to focus on training, retraining and probation of teachers in secondary schools and universities of the country. 2009-2010 academic years marked the first-ever per capita funding of education of students in universities and we plan to improve this mechanism in the future,” the minister noted.
“I think that in 2011 we need to pay greater attention to monitoring of educational institutions and assessment of the quality of education received at secondary and higher schools. Overall, at least 20 diverse education projects will be implemented in Azerbaijan in 2011,” Mardanov said.
