
Forest in Shahdag National Park in Gabala region of Azerbaijan has caught fire. According to the region’s firefighting unit, the fire that broke out between Tikanli and Solgija villages has been going on for three days.
It is impossible to extinguish the fire using equipment, since the fire is blazing at high altitude. Only manpower is used in the area to put out the fire.
Rescuers from the north-western office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, about 100 employees of the region’s firefighting unit, the office for protection and restoration of forests and residents of surrounding villages are working at the scene.
The fire has destroyed trees, fallen leaves and bushes in an area of 2 hectares.
Work continues to extinguish the fire.
