Chairmen appointed to new regional courts on heinous crimes and economic courts in Azerbaijan

Chairmen were appointed to the new regional courts on heinous crimes and administrative and economic courts created upon the decree by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as several other courts in the country.

New courts will begin functioning from Jan. 1, 2011, a source at the Judicial-Legal Council told Trend  on Friday.

The matters arising from the presidential decree were discussed at the Judicial-Legal Council with the participation of the chairman of the Council, the Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov, chairman of the Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev and newly appointed judges.

Speaking at the event, the newly appointed judges said they would work to eliminate the existing shortcomings, the basis of their activities will always be the supremacy of law.
