The Azerbaijani government will pay additional compensation to those suffered from the natural disasters this spring in the coming days.

"The Azerbaijani government will soon pay compensation to victims of the floods," Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov said at the event dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Ministry.
"7,000 families suffered from the natural disasters have already paid 6,410 manat. The government calculates the total amount of assistance provided by the acts and payment of additional compensation is scheduled for the near future," Heydarov said.
Heavy rains and floods led to the increase water levels in the Rivers Kur and Araz. These lead to breakthrough of dams on the Kura river in Sabirabad and in the Bayramli village of the Shirvan region on May 7, 2010. Some areas of Sabirabad and Shirvan were flooded.
