
BP (the operator developing the block of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea) stopped producing light oil from the platform, located on the field "Chirag". The work conducted on the platform was stopped on Saturday.
"During the routine testing of fire protection system on the platform, it was necessary to conduct preventive repair work that has been already launched. Of course, we have suspended production on the platform. The work, conducted on the platform, has been suspended from the standpoint of technical security only for repair," BP told Trend.
According to the BP representative, suspending the work on the platform is necessary in accordance with safety regulations. "Safety of the platform, people is a very important issue for us," a representative of the company said. The work on the platform will be restored as soon as repair is completed.
Other platforms, in particular in the field "Azeri" and the deep part of the field Guneshli, Sangachal oil terminal and other export facilities are working normally.
