
Azerbaijan`s first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva attended a ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO Constitution.
Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva attended a presentation ceremony of UNESCO Greek Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna Vardinoyanni book`s book titled “Labouring with the challenge of female identity”.
The Azerbaijan`s first lady also met Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova.
Participants of the ceremony watched a video on activity of the organization. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon`s congratulatory message was read out at the ceremony.
Speakers at the event included former Director Generals of the organization Amadou-Mahtar M`Bow, Federico Mayor, Koichiro Matsuura, President of the General Conference Davidson-Hepburn and chairperson of the organization`s Executive Board Eleonora Mitrofanova.
The event saw the performance of singers from Thailand, Cameroon, Bolivia, Turkey, Greece, Canada, Morocco, Lebanon, including chairman of Azerbaijan`s Composers Union Firangiz Alizadeh.
