Azerbaijan's national leader commemorated in Sumgait

Today, a commemoration ceremony was held in Sumgait in connection with the seventh anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev's death, the executive branch of the city said.

Representatives of the city public visited the monument to national leader, built on the Heydar Aliyev prospect. Vagif Aliyev, the head of the executive power, laid flowers at the monument to national leader and addressed the participants of the event.

Then the inhabitants of the city laid flowers at the monument as a sign of deep respect for national leader Heydar Aliyev. The ceremony will last until the evening. The events dedicated to the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev were held in the cultural and educational institutions, organizations of the city.

Heydar Aliyev died on Dec. 12, 2003.
