Cases over 11 participants of the unsanctioned rally in Baku have been sent to the court.
The "Freedom to Hijab" rally was held in front of the Azerbaijani Education Ministry today.
Police arrested about sixteen participants of the unsanctioned rally. Five people were released after a warning and cases over 11 detained protesters were directed to the Narimanov District Court, Interior Ministry's Deputy Speaker Ehsan Zahidov told Trend.
School students and their parents from Baku and the region organized the rally.
The protesters marched from the former Garabag Inn to the Azerbaijani Education Ministry, yelling the slogans "Freedom to Hijab" and "Allahu Akbar."
The protesters restricted traffic on the road in front of the ministry.
All children must where school uniforms, Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov said earlier while commenting on some schoolgirls wearing headscarves in educational institutions.
"Our decision on this question is categorical," he said. "There is a school uniform and children should come to school in these clothes."
