Book about art of ashigs published in Baku

World Alliance of Young Turk Writes (TURKSAM) has published a book titled "The New Generation of Azerbaijani Ashigs.” The book has been published by "Turan Evi" publishing house as part of the project "Instilling forgotten national customs and traditions in younger generation (encouraging youth to protect them)." The book has been published in two volumes.

It has been compiled by TURKSAM Director Akbar Goshalyo. Scientific editor is Chairman of Azerbaijani parliament’s Culture Committee, professor Nizami Jafarov and consultant is Chairman of the Azerbaijani Ashigs Union Zalimkhan Yaqub. Foreword to the book is written by Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva.

The book contains 188 pages and articles about 45 ashigs of a new generation. The book also provides information about an art of ashigs, the history of Azerbaijan’s musical instrument saz and ashig tunes in the country.
