Azerbaijan's traffic police uses helicopter to control vehicles movement

"The helicopter was purchased to serve traffic police in Azerbaijan controls the movement of vehicles on roads of national importance,” spokesperson for the General Directorate of State Traffic Police of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said.

Basically, this aircraft patrols the road traffic in the regions of Azerbaijan.

"The helicopter is not intended for use in Baku. There is no need, since it is designed for long flights. In addition, aircraft will not operate at night. It can be seen in the sky only during daylight hours. However, if necessary, the helicopter is capable of making night flights. It has searchlights,” Aliyev added.

In case violation of traffic rules is revealed, traffic police officers in the helicopter cabin let traffic police posts know about it through radio transmitter.
 
"In turn, staff of traffic police officers stop the car and make up a protocol on administrative violation. There are usually four men in the cabin at the time of the helicopter patrols, two of whom are pilots and the rest are watching the movement of vehicles moving on roads," the spokesperson said.
  
"If I'm not mistaken, the helicopter is made in France. I do not know from where it has been delivered to Baku," he noted.

So far, the traffic police in Azerbaijan have purchased only one helicopter with no plans to purchase more in future.
