New pipeline to supply Baku population with drinking water soon

Oguz-Gabala-Baku pipeline which is expected to supply Baku population with drinking water has left 10-15 kilometers to reach Baku, manager of the project Ahmad Mammadov said.

“The construction work is nearing end. The pipeline has already reached Absheron region. It will reach Baku by the end of the year,” Mammadov said.

The Oguz-Gabala-Baku pipeline with a length of 252.4 kilometers also includes 7 water reservoirs and 11 local water pipe stations in Baku area. A system of automatic control and management has been created to exercise a constant control over the pipeline, the project manager added.

The water will be distributed among districts of Baku through distributor units located near Baku. The pipeline which will deliver water from mountains in Azerbaijan’s northern Oguz region to capital will supply Yasamal, Nasimi, Narimanov and Sabail districts and some part of Binagadi district of Baku with drinking water, he said.

The new pipeline is expected to help to eliminate long time intervals between supply of water during a day and a problem of water shortage in the capital. According to estimations, 5 cubic meters of water in a second is expected to be delivered to Baku.
