About 88 criminal gangs committing murder defused in Azerbaijan over past five years

Over the past five years, about 88 criminal gangs, consisting of 238 persons, who have committed premeditated murder, have been defused in Azerbaijan.

"As a result of measures taken in 2005-2009 and 10 months of this year, 1,149 people, who have committed murder, have been identified, 174 accused persons, who were wanted, have been detained, in general, 88 criminal gangs, consisting of 238 persons, have been defused," the Chief of the head criminal investigation department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Police Major General Emin Shekinski said in his speech at the board meeting of the Ministry.

In his speech, Shekinski spoke about affairs in the disclosure of murders. "Over the past five years, the number of such murders have decreased, the percentage of their disclosure totaled 87 percent, and ten months of this year - 90.8 percent," said Shekinski.

In 2005-2009, and this year, 45 crimes related to murders committed in previous years in the capital and regions have been disclosed.

Analysis shows that 71 percent of murders are committed in the Republic because of domestic issues. It was noted that the major fact contributing to reducing the number of murders is the increase and the full and timely conduct of work to prevent domestic crimes.
