Azeri women are "stepping on it" - more and more of them are getting their driving licences in Azerbaijan. Nowadays, it seems like every 2nd of them wants to get behind the wheel.
According to reports, there were 33,000 women who received driving licences in Azerbaijan for the last 5 years.
Interior Ministry Chief Traffic Police Department spokesman Kamran Aliyev confirms this. He also added, that most women got their licences in 2008 - over 6000. Aliyev also pointed out, that not so long ago, a woman of 69(!) years of age was registered at the department.
Aliyev admitted that there are "alcohol related" problems among women drivers as well.
"Some 40 women were caught, due to drunk driving since the beginning of 2010. One woman was even caught twice. Aside from that, there were women who drove cars without any driving license at all," Aliyev added.
