Art of Azerbaijani carpet weaving inscribed into UNESCO Intangible Heritage List

The Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which already has 166 elements from 77 countries, has been enriched by the art of carpet weaving of Azerbaijan.

“This historical event creates new opportunities for us. This success will become an impetus to further development of the carpet weaving in Azerbaijan, promotion of the national school of carpet weaving globally,” minister of culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev told journalists.

“This proves again that the art of Azerbaijani carpet assumed worldwide fame and nobody will dare to appropriate national carpet weaving masterpieces.”
