
Azerbaijan adopted a resolution as a result of the international scientific-practical conference on "Youth for scientific and technical progress", held during the Year of Ecology, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport said.
The final resolution stressed the need to continue the search for reasonable compromises on the political level to protect the environment.
"We are convinced that governments, business, civil society must contribute to saving our planet. Each of the partners has a role and possibilities," a statement said.
Moreover, the resolution stresses the importance of intensifying scientific research, engineering and technology developments aimed at harmonizing human activity, reducing the harm caused by nature.
The participants urge the youth organizations, initiative groups to intensify efforts to contribute to the education of not only youth, but also other layers of society, as well as increase the level of participation in the formulation of environmental outlook.
The conference "Youth for scientific and technical progress" brought together about 150 scientists, experts, students, engineers, youth, acting as part of environmental NGOs from thirteen countries.
The event was held November 11-12 at the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).
It aims to inspire young scientists, experts, specialists, businessmen, public organizations and media representatives to resolve the ecological issues, to encourage their participation in the creation of new, innovative economy and science, taking into account the environmental features of the new century.
