
A four-day training seminar for the members of the group of national preventive mechanism against torture under Azerbaijan`s Ombudsman Office took place in Baku. The event was organized by OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
Azeri ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova praised close relations with OSCE. She said international organizations, including OSCE Baku office render assistance to Azerbaijan government to protect human rights and combat against torture and maltreatment.
ODIHR expert Liana Adler briefed on UN Convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Prospects of establishment of the relations with the state structures and NGOs, preparation of the reports were discussed at the seminars.
