Balakhani landfill in Baku suburbs cleared from wastes - PHOTOS

Balakhani landfill of solid waste was transferred to the control of “Tamiz Shahar” (Clean City) LLC under the presidential decree “On measures to improve waste management in Baku” dated August 6, 2008. Baku residents well remember huge environmental damage the fires and smoke in the landfill caused to environment and health of Baku city residents earlier.
 
Taking over management of Balakhani landfill, “Tamiz Shahar” LLC set a goal in the first place to prevent instances of waste fire and subsequent smoke.

“Tamiz Shahar” LLC could eliminate cases of incineration of waste as soon as possible as a result of targeted measures. In addition, waste accumulated at the site over a dozen years were sorted out and buried, the site was cleared and leveled and old roads were reconstructed.
