OSCE senior adviser: Azerbaijan made significant step toward the fulfillment of gender equality commitments

“Azerbaijan made significant step toward the fulfillment of gender equality commitments by adopting a law for prevention of domestic violence”, said OSCE senior adviser for gender issues Jamila Seftaoui at a press conference in Baku.

“The OSCE supported elaboration and adoption of this law. We hope that this legislative act will be fulfilled soon. Displaying of comprehensive approach in combating violence against women and fulfillment of this law is very important for protection of women rights and security”.

Seftaoui said she met with the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Committee on Family, Women and Children Problems, Ministry of Economic Development, as well as representatives of the international organizations and civil society within her four-day visit.
