
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the railway administrations of CIS and Baltic countries, Arif Asgarov, the chairman of JSC Azerbaijan Railways, said at the Business Forum "Strategic Partnership1520: The Caucasus region", dedicated to the 130-th anniversary of the Azerbaijani railway.
Asgarov said that Azerbaijan actively participates in international transport projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and North-South. Askerov said that the length of railways of Azerbaijan is 2,930 kilometers, of which 2,100 are operational. Over 60% of the operational lines are electrified.
Baku hosts a business forum "Strategic Partnership1520: The Caucasus region" on Oct. 12-13. A key theme of the forum is the effective development of transport corridor North-South.
