New purple taxis to operate in Baku

Baku will get purple London Taxi TX-4, which will be used in the capital as taxis, in October, Namik Hasanov, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport, spokesman said.

"New cars will be delivered in batches. The vehicles, which will operate in Baku as taxis, will be brought to Baku soon," Hasanov said.

He said that it is planned to bring 3,000 vehicles for Baku. But if this number fails to meet the needs of the capital, foreign cars of another brand may be involved. Hasanov said that light beige color was chosen for Sumgait. Over 7,000-8,000 taxis, mostly Daewoo Nexia and Daewoo Lacetti, will be brought to Baku and Azerbaijani regions.
