Caspian Sea shore cleaned from debris

Azerbaijan hosted several cultural - educational activities in connection with the World Maritime Day and the 'Week of the Caspian Sea ' held by the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, the ministry reported.

The Caspian Sea coastline length of 10 km in the Lankaran and Astara regions were cleared of eight tons of household and other rubbish under the 'Week of the Caspian Sea '.

About 15 tons of household and industrial waste was cleared from an area of five hectares in Absheron, Gobustan and Khizi. 20 hectares of the coastal zone in the north-east of Azerbaijan has been cleared of 30 tons of household and other waste.

The ministry's specialists gave lectures on the importance of protecting biological resources of the Caspian Sea in the Shirvan, Hajigabul, Bilasuvar, Neftchala, Salyan and Sabirabad regions. The ministry held cleaning day on the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea on the territory of Neftchala region.
