30 September 2010 [17:55] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Parliament approved a convention 'On legal status of migrant workers and their family members in the CIS" at the first meeting of the autumn session on Thursday.
"Given a large number of migrant workers, the convention is important for each CIS country, including Azerbaijan, to determine their status," Parliamentary Legal Policy and State Building Committee Chairman Ali Huseynov said.

The convention was undersigned in 2008 in Chisinau, Moldova.

MP Nasib Nasibli noted the need to sign a similar agreement with Georgia. "Georgia is out of the CIS, but there are many migrant workers from Georgia in Azerbaijan and their status is not defined," Nasibli said.

The parliament also approved the agreement 'On visa-free movement of citizens, who have diplomatic and service passports, between Azerbaijan and Austria', 'On the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports, between Azerbaijan and Egypt', 'On some aspects of air services between Azerbaijan and the European Union' and 'On air services between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic.
