
Humanitarian and Social Sciences Institute of the Southern Federal University of Rostov, Russia reached agreement on cooperation with Mesrop Mashtets University in Khankandi, occupied town of Azerbaijan. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elkhan Polukhov said the ministry urged the embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia to investigate this issue. “Any action in the territories of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenians without Azerbaijan’s allowance is considered illegal”.
Rector of the Humanitarian and Social Sciences Institute of the Southern federal University Yuri Volkov told APA that the agreement was signed during the international scientific conference “The Caucasus is our common home” in Rostov. “We invited Baku State University, Tbilisi University to the conference. Two people came from Stepanakert. They learned our education program and asked us for manuals and we agreed to exchange it. This activity is out of the politics. The educational center can not be involved in the politics. We reached an agreement with the Stepanakert University and there is no word of Nagorno Karabakh in the document. Professors asked us for manuals and we agreed on that. There is no other essence in the document we signed”.
The director said they didn’t need to agree this issue with the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. “I consulted with the pro-rector of the institute Professor Dyujikov, he gave consent and we signed agreement on cooperation between the two universities. There is no question about the political activity”.
