Azerbaijan to attend international conference on fight against human trafficking in Egypt

Azerbaijan will be represented in an international conference dedicated to fighting human trafficking, to be held Dec.10-12 in the Egyptian city of Luxor.
The conference is organized under the patronage of Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak. The event is expected to be attended by the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, heads of states and government, first ladies of a number of countries, "YES Azerbaijan" Advisory Group's member Rovshan Muradov told Trend today.

The campaign "Let's End Human Trafficking" started in Azerbaijan in 2009 on the initiative of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs with the support of "YES Azerbaijan" and Azercell Telecom.

Within the campaign former First Lady of Poland Jolanta Kwaśniewska, Belgian Senate Honorary Chairman Anne-Marie Lizin, advisor to former Secretary-General Kofi Annan Ismail Serageldin, former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga have visited Azerbaijan.

YES (Youth Employment System) was established in 2002 on Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak and former U.S. president Bill Clinton's initiative. The first summit of the organization was held in 2002 in Egypt.

Under a resolution adopted at the meeting in Egypt, the organization will operate for 10 years by holding summits every two years. The fourth summit was held in 2008 in Baku with the support of Azerbaijani Government under the chairmanship of Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak and Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

The next summit is scheduled to take place in the Swedish city of Dalarna under the chairmanship of the former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson and Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismail Serageldin.

YES (Youth Employment System) has 55 offices worldwide. Azerbaijan is represented both in the regional leadership and International Advisory Group.

The friendship group of "YES Azerbaijan" includes the First Lady of Egypt Suzanne Mubarak, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismail Serageldin, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyannis, Belgian Senate Honorary Chairman Anne-Marie Lizin, former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, former Costa Rican President José María Hipólito Figueres Ferrer.
